MP backs biodiesel tax break campaign

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a campaign to keep tax breaks for companies who produce biodiesel.

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel currently take advantage of a 20p differential however that is due to end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been fulfilling with the UK sustainable .

Mr George said "a number of little companies in Cornwall presently earn money from used cooking oil".

He included: "In order to be able to get this sort of market going it does require just a little bit of lift which is available in the form of tax inescapable."

Biodiesel is a mix of conventional diesel, rapeseed and vegetable oils.
