Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be harmful.

"These types of items being sold, generally online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their security.

"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the result drugs like this might have on your health."
